Urban Challenge Bid Success

May's presentation marked the first use of the Societies’ new IT equipment which has been provided thanks to a grant from the ‘Urban Challenge’ fund; we received just over £900 to buy a lap top computer, digital projector and remote control plus a large carry case to put it all in.  The grant was the direct result of EMDA funding which covered the whole cost of our project. The new equipment has now been set it up and it is not just available for visiting speakers but also for members if they want to prepare a slide show or the Christmas Quiz.  Urban Challenge is a consortium of the City of Lincoln Council, Lincoln Local Strategic Partnership, Lincolnshire Enterprise, Lincolnshire County Council, East Midlands Development Agency and the EU to help community groups, voluntary organisations and social enterprises with their ICT costs.  In 2007/8 the total amount of grant funding available was £20,000 and the maximum available to any one organisation is £1,000.

Boulton Paul & National Arboretum Visit

Unfortunately the Society's planned visit to Boulton Paul and the National Arboretum has had to be cancelled at short notice due to the closure of the Arboretum for essential maintenance. It is hoped to reschedule this visit for 2009.
